TRIUMPH Taps Guitarist DAVE DUNLOP For Upcoming Shows
May 10, 2008Reactivated Canadian rockers TRIUMPH have tapped Dave Dunlop from frontman Rik Emmett's STRUNG-OUT TROUBADOURS project to play second guitar for TRIUMPH's forthcoming shows, including next month's Sweden Rock Festival.
STRUNG-OUT TROUBADOURS' debut CD was honored in the "Album of the Year" and "Best Group/Duo" categories at the 2007 Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards, where they were the most heavily nominated act. Each member was also up for the "Best Guitarist" award. The group's follow-up album, entitled "Live at Hugh's Room", showcased the acoustic duo in a magical evening captured just before Christmas 2006 at the fabled Hugh's Room in Toronto.
Rik Emmett (vocals, guitars),Mike Levine (bass, keyboards) and Gil Moore (vocals, drums) were destined for stardom when they formed the Canadian hard-rock trio TRIUMPH in 1975. Their debut self-titled album was released in 1976 by Attic Records and quickly reached gold status. On the strength of the group's non-stop touring schedule throughout Canada and the USA, TRIUMPH had rapidly built a large and loyal fan base.
TRIUMPH is scheduled to perform at Sweden Rock 2008 in Slvesborg, Sweden on Saturday, June 7.
